China, Japan, ROK Reveal New Environmental Cooperation Framework
The new framework, discussed at the 26th Tripartite Environment Ministers Meeting in Yantai, Shandong Province, aims to tackle a wide range of regional and global environmental challenges. According to China's Minister of Ecology and Environment, Huang Runqiu, the plan outlines collaborative initiatives focused on eight priority areas, establishing a strong foundation for the next five years of trilateral cooperation.
Huang highlighted the increased practical cooperation between the three countries in addressing environmental challenges, noting that they have already completed three phases of collaborative plans. These initiatives have led to considerable progress in controlling air pollution, preventing sandstorms, and managing chemical environmental issues.
He also underscored that the environmental goals of the three nations are closely aligned. The push to enhance environmental cooperation, foster regional green development, and improve public environmental well-being reflects shared priorities. Huang emphasized China's commitment to working with Japan and the ROK to take trilateral environmental cooperation to new levels.
Since 1999, the three countries have rotated hosting the annual Environment Ministers' meeting, underscoring their long-standing commitment to addressing environmental challenges on a regional scale.
The newly unveiled plan is poised to set the stage for further impactful partnerships in the years ahead.
